Precisely so that we are all aware of what this means, today we are going to explain what it means and what it entails that the support of Windows 7 is about to end.

What does the end of support mean?

The Windows operating system evolves by releasing new versions periodically. Over the years, older versions are phased out, and all efforts are focused solely on maintaining the most powerful current versions.
Windows offers its users two types of support: standard and extended. Standard support includes updates and improvements, as well as the ability to make warranty claims on hardware. This type of support... Windows 7 already It ended in January 2015, which means that it will no longer improve, and since then it has only been under extended support.
Extended support is a kind of extension; the operating system has been abandoned but continues to receive security updates to fix bugs or errors that have been discovered and that can be exploited to attack users.

What will happen when extended support ends?

He next January 14, 2020 Windows 7 It will officially lose all support, leaving its users unprotected and without new applications… at this point the best solution is to migrate to a new operating system.
However, users who choose to continue using this operating system and want to continue receiving security patches will have to contract exclusive maintenance with Microsoft that will last another three years.

What should I do?

Undoubtedly, migrating to a new operating system is the only option. There's no other way; Microsoft isn't going to backtrack, just as they didn't with Windows XP. Therefore, the only solution is to migrate to a new operating system. If you're still a Windows XP user... Windows 7 The logical next step is to switch to Windows 10 (it maintains the same minimum hardware specifications as its two previous versions).
